Tetris was launched in the 1980s. Millions of people spent millions of hours playing this simple game. This video game had the potency of an addictive drug. In this game, shapes fell from the sky, and all you had to do, was to control how they fell and fit within each other. 

After playing the game for hours, many players experienced something strange. They would see falling blocks even in their dreams, or buildings moving together on the street. 

In a way, their minds continue playing, even after they had finished the game. Hence, this phenomenon was called the TETRIS EFFECT. 

So you may ask, what’s the CONNECTION?? 

Simply put, the Tetris Effect occurs when something that we focus on for extended periods of time, starts appearing in our thoughts, perceptions, and dreams.

Now let’s connect this to our natural human tendency to focus on the NEGATIVE. We are hard-wired to scan the environment for threats, problems, and negative messages. Have you ever found yourself dwelling more on an insult, rather than a compliment? We think about negative things more frequently than positive ones, isn’t it? 

Constantly scanning the world for the negative comes with a great cost. The more we focus on the negative, the more we create it in our reality. Therefore, we expect the worst in others, have trust issues, and react defensively to people and situations. 

And so, if you find yourself constantly seeing the negative in your relationships, your environment, and the way you perceive people, you are caught in the Tetris effect. 

Hence, it’s time to consciously focus on the positive so that we create more of it in our reality. 

Let’s rewire our brain for the the ‘Tetris Effect’ of happiness, gratitude, and optimism!! Imagine how the world would be then!! 😊
